Two Ultra-Luxury Expedition Ships to Join Seabourn Fleet
Seabourn recently signed a Letter of Intent for the construction of two new ultra-luxury expedition ships with shipbuilders T. Mariotti and Damen, who will collaborate on the construction of the vessels under a common name MARIOTTI DAMEN Cruise. The new ships will be an innovative design, created specifically for the ultra-luxury expedition traveler, and will include many amenities that have made Seabourn ships so successful as well as a host of features designed to enhance our guests expedition experience.
The first delivery is expected in June 2021 and the second ship is anticipated in May 2022. The 170-meter, 23,000 gross ton vessels will add more opportunities for you travel Seabourn in Antarctica, the Arctic and other exotic destinations around the world. Both ships will meet PC6 Polar Class standards. Each will feature 132 luxurious ocean-front veranda suites, which will be home for up to 264 Seabourn guests.
Our new ships will offer a number of ultra-luxury expedition travel amenities designed to deliver you an unparalleled experience in some of the most remote areas in the world, including many established Seabourn favorites. Each will be fully outfitted kayaks and 24 Zodiac inflatable boats. Both ships will be designed to carry two submarines on board, which is a new feature for Seabourn, providing you with an unforgettable view of the world beneath the ocean's surface.
The two new ultra-luxury ships build upon the success of our Ventures by Seabourn™ program, which is now offered in select destinations around the world. As part of the Seabourn fleet, these new expedition ships will deliver the same intuitive, personalized service you have come to know over the course of our 30-year history.
Seabourn will announce design and service details for the new ships beginning later this year. Specific details about itineraries and booking availability will be released in early 2019. The first ship is currently planned to sail in the Arctic in late summer 2021, with a full winter season in Antarctica to follow.
Onboard crew will include outstanding and well-traveled expedition teams comprised of experienced wilderness experts, scientists, historians and Zodiac operators. During each sailing, team members regularly interact with guests, providing keen insight to deliver a rich holistic travel experience. These fascinating, accomplished experts are also part of the Seabourn Conversations program, providing in-depth insights into the history, ecology and culture of the places they visit. Their valuable insights are offered both in complimentary formal presentations on a variety of topics and in more casual conversations over meals or at leisure.
